Coronavirus: HSE would need to provide an extra 10,000 hospital beds to cope with a possible widespread outbreak

The HSE is in a perilous position today, as it has emerged that 10,000 extra beds would need to be provided just to deal with a possible widespread outbreak in Ireland, according to the Irish Mirror.

The hospital system in the country is chronically overcrowded as it is, so treatment of the sick and infected might need to be done in hotels or military facilities.

There are now 70 confirmed cases of the disease in Ireland, but this number is likely to rise over the coming weeks.
