Coronavirus: Italian town of Bergamo is reportedly holding two funerals every half an hour due to unprecedented death toll

The Italian town of Bergamo is reportedly holding two funerals every half an hour due to the unprecedented death toll caused by the coronavirus.

Locals say that the bodies of COVID-19 victims are being temporarily stored in churches and other facilities until a funeral slot becomes available.

It emerged yesterday that the city’s crematorium is now working on a 24h schedule to cope with demand.

A total of 1,441 coronavirus-related deaths have so far been recorded across Italy.
