The Mater Hospital in Dublin has reported a significant surge of Covid-19 cases in recent days, and the facility is now treating the most coronavirus patients in the whole of Ireland.
A planned easing of lockdown restrictions on May 5 is now in jeopardy, due to lack of widespread testing and an apparent surge in cases.
The official death toll arising from Covid-19 here in Ireland now stands at 1,087, with almost 20,000 confirmed cases.
