The coronavirus pandemic is terrible in all countries but it appears that America may well be the new Spain or Italy as New York’s confirmed cases have completely spiralled out of all control.

The state of New York alone has now reported more Covid-19 cases than any country in the world, apart from the United States.

There are now 181,026 confirmed cases across New York. To put this figure into perspective, the entirety of Spain has 161,852 cases.

Experts believe that one of the main reasons for this is sheer population density, as New York is the most densely populated city in the entire country by far.

Ethnic minorities have seen the highest mortality. Black and Hispanic people living in New York account for 62% of the entire city’s Covid-19-related deaths. Medical authorities blame this fact on the lack of appropriate health care access for these sectors of the population.
