Coronavirus: Over 1 billion people go into lockdown in India over spreading Chinese virus

The whole of India with its almost 1.4 billion population is being put on lockdown until at least April 15th due to the spreading Covid-19 virus.

At first only the country’s major cities and urban areas were put on lockdown but after the Chinese virus was detected in small, rural villages Prime Minister Modi extend the lockdown to the entirety of India.

So far around 500 Covid-19 cases have been confirmed in the country, but it has been speculated that unless extreme measures are taken to curtail the spread of the virus by it could infect over one million people by mid-May.

So far the Chinese virus which originally began in the Hubei province city of Wuhan has been detected in 194 countries bringing much of Europe and North America to a standstill as countries implement lockdowns to slow the spread of the disease.
