Health authorities have said that the second person to die from COVID-19 is a male in the east of the country.
It is understood that the deceased had a number of underlying health issues and was being treated in a hospital in the east of country, but the HSE is refusing to give any more specific data as to where the location is.
The number of COVID-19 cases in Ireland has increased by 39 today.
