The Tánaiste Simon Coveney has said that every effort will be made to bring alleged ISIS sympathiser Lisa Smith and her two-year-old daughter home to Ireland.
Ms Smith a former member of the Irish defence forces has reportedly been detained at a refugee camp in Syria for the last number of weeks.
It is reported that Ms Smith from Dundalk, Co Louth, has made a plea to return home to Ireland.
However even though the Tánaiste said the case is an unusual one and delicate, he has said that the Government is committed to finding a solution for Ms Smith and her daughter.
Mr Coveney who was speaking in Cork earlier today also said the case is being treated as a consular case and there is further concern given that a young child is involved.
He added that the Departments of Foreign Affairs, Defence and Justice will hold a meeting on Monday to further discuss the issue.
