The Tanaiste Simon Coveney said that it’s important to be honest with people in relation to the coronavirus outbreak.
Coveney said:
“At the moment, the increase is in single figures but if you look at Italy – an extra 750 people got coronavirus today with an extra 110 people dying in a 24 hour period.”
He said “that in a short number of weeks, Italy has over 9,000 people with the virus and that could happen in Ireland too and we have to ask ourselves how can we slow it down and help out the health service.”
Coveney went on to say that the government set aside a significant amount of money for a “no deal” Brexit and that the government will use that money to help the health service.
