Coveney: These restrictions may go on for some time, it’d be wrong to put a timeline on it

Things are going to get worse before they get better, that’s what the government has led the Irish people to believe.

The Tanaiste Simon Coveney has announced that the current lockdown measures that the government were forced to impose on the Irish people may be extended past Easter and even much further beyond.

Coveney said at a briefing:
“The restrictions may go for some time, it’s wrong to put a timeline on it.”, as the government say that they simply don’t know what will be needed.

The Tanaiste went on to say:
“We’ve set an initial period but it may well be that we need to go beyond that initial deadline.”

It’s understood that the HSE and Chief Medical Officer will make recommendations at the end of next week.
