Coveney: We don’t know yet what sort of checks we will impose on the Irish border in no-deal Brexit scenario

It’s sad day when allegedly one of our own is talking about threats of what the Irish government is going impose on the Irish border. It’s disgraceful, really, but there you are.

The Tanaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs Simon Coveney told opposition parities on Tuesday evening that Ireland and the European Commission have not yet decided what sort of checks that they will impose in the case of a no-deal Brexit.

Last week, the Taoiseach Leo Varadkar confirmed that some checks will happen near the border with the North – as utterly dispicable as that sounds.

Many believe that Coveney is being told what to say and even think by his European Union overlords and that the people in Brussels are the people who are really running the show here in Ireland.
