The Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection has tweeted that it will not uphold report migrants who are working in Ireland illegally if they claims for special social welfare payments set up as part of the government scheme to mitigate the impact of the Covid-19 virus.

The Department’s official Twitter account ‘@Welfare_ie’ put out an update stating:

“The Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection wishes to confirm that there are no plans in place to share data we receive as part of an immigrant’s application for a #COVID19 Pandemic Unemployment Payment with GNIB or the Department of Justice and Equality.”

These means that should an illegal alien working in Ireland make a claim for Pandemic Unemployment Payment with the GNIB or the Department of Justice and Equality they will receive a weekly payment of €350 of taxpayer money despite the fact they are breaking the law.
