Covid-19: Dr Tony Holohan says there is no need to implement a lockdown at this time

The Chief Medical officer Tony Holohan has said that it’s too early for Ireland to go into lockdown.

Speaking on The Late Late Show Dr Holohan said that although the virus has to be taken seriously, there is currently no need to introduce further restrictions such as curfews at this time.

Dr Holohan also said that we won’t see the impact of social distancing until next week, but it is crucial that everyone sticks to specific guidelines set out by the Government.

He added that public health officials are treating the virus more like a marathon more than a sprint.
