Covid-19: Germany suspends the administration of the AstraZeneca vaccine in people under 55 due to continuous reports of blood clotting

Germany has today suspended the administration of the AstraZeneca vaccine in people under 55, due to continuous reports of blood clotting.

It is understood that there have been no fewer than 31 reports of blood clots in people who have received the jab in Germany. Nine of these resulted in fatalities, and a vast majority of the cases (all but two) were women aged between 20 and 63.

This is the second time that the use of the AstraZeneca vaccine has been suspended in Germany, despite a recent ruling from the European Medicines Agency saying that the ‘benefits outweigh the risks.’
