Covid-19: Government set to pass new emergency legislation that will allow for the arrest of people who refuse to self isolate




 

The Government are set to pass a new emergency legislation that will allow the Gardai to arrest people if they refuse to self isolate.

In new measures set to be passed on Thursday, anyone who is diagnosed with the virus will be detained if they refuse to stay indoors.

The new legislation will also allow the government to shut down mass gatherings if the situation continues get worse.

It is understood the legislation will also allow for automatic social welfare to for those who are unable to work due to the outbreak.
