The Health Service Executive (HSE) has admitted that a large percentage of people newly admitted to hospital with severe coronavirus-induced disease are fully vaccinated.
According to figures published by the Irish Mirror, as much as a quarter of admitted patients had been led to believe that they were protected by the vaccines. It has recently been suggested that the vaccines prevent neither infection nor transmission of Covid-19, particularly of the Delta variant. And in all these cases, the vaccine obviously did not prevent the development of serious illness either.
The HSE also points out that many of these people had underlying conditions.
