The Health Service Executive (HSE) is reporting a ‘critical’ coronavirus situation across the Irish hospital system.
According to the HSE, there currently are 650 people with severe Covid-19 symptoms in Irish hospitals today, with 214 out of those in intensive care.
Official figures say that there have been 2,947 Covid-19-related deaths in Ireland since the start of the pandemic, but that figure is likely to rise significantly over the coming days and weeks.
