Ireland’s Chief Medical Officer Dr. Tony Holohan has said that the coronavirus situation across the country is ‘very concerning,’ following the detection of almost 1,300 new cases.

A total of 1,296 new cases were confirmed on Saturday, the highest daily increase in Ireland ever.

2,200 people have died from Covid-19-related causes in Ireland so far.
