Liverpool is today facing a ‘Tier 3’ lockdown, meaning pubs, bars, and gyms are to close immediately.

Restaurants, schools, and universities are expected to remain open.

Liverpool remains one of the worst-affected areas in the UK, with 4,953 confirmed cases so far.

The new tier system will be enforced across the UK from Monday.
