The National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) will meet urgently again today following a marked deterioration of the Covid-19 situation since Sunday.
There are now deep concerns that new infections could soar to 1,500 per day in a few short weeks if nothing is done.
NPHET recently recommended a second national lockdown, the only solution with any hope of succeeding, but the Government bizarrely rejected this idea.
Hundreds, if not thousands of people are now at risk because of this ill-advised Government decision.
