The National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) is to meet again this evening to discuss the deepening coronavirus crisis.
It has been suggested that new infections could top 1,500 a day in a few short weeks if the outbreak is not controlled immediately.
It is understood that further lockdown measures might be discussed tonight.
