The coronavirus Omicron variant has now been detected in 89 countries worldwide, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).
According to the WHO, cases appear to be doubling roughly every 3 days in areas where there is community transmission.
Most reports suggest that Omicron causes only mild symptoms.
