A heroic 66-yr-old granny in Co Cork has fought the draconian lockdown measures and says she’ll continue to do so after she gets out of prison.
The 66-yr-old grandmother, who has received multiple convictions for not wearing a mask in stores during the pandemic, will spend Christmas in jail after a judge granted her a six-month hiatus for her crime, claiming she has contempt for others as she was sentenced to prison.
Margaret Buttimer of The Cottage, St Fintan’s Road, Bandon, Co. Cork appeared in Bandon District Court after pleading guilty to not wearing a mask when she went into Jakes restaurant on the morning of November 17th.
It’s understood that the Judge learned that Ms. Buttimer was refusing to leave the restaurant. An on-site manager asked her to leave 15 times. Instead, however, she waited at the counter for Gardai to arrive. Gardai and her staff asked her to put on a mask or leave the area. She refused to do both and thus will spend Christmas behind bars taking a stand for her civil rights.
