Media streaming giants such as Netflix, Amazon and Hulu are being asked to stream content in Standard Definition rather than High Definition due to the Coronavirus outbreak.
The call comes from Thierry Breton, the EU Internal Market and Digital Economy Commissioner, who says that streaming in High Definition could slow down the Internet.
Breton says that online services will become increasingly strained as people are forced to work from home.
He added that large high definition video files could potentially slow the web.
