Covid-19: Surge in migrants crossing Channel as French police abandon patrols to aid in virus lockdown

There has been a reported surge in Third World migrants attempting to cross the English Channel to the UK after French police have been diverted from patrolling ports such as Calle to aid the Covid-19 virus lockdown in the country.

This warning comes from the immigration officers’ union and there are fears that some of the migrants, who live in squalid conditions on the north coast of France may be infect with the deadly Chinese virus.

The Migrant aid charity ‘Care4Calais’ has warned this week that 3,000 migrants living in desperate conditions in northern France are at high risk from coronavirus.

Meanwhile, the ISU, the union for borders, immigration and customs, has said that on some days as many as a dozen boats ferrying illegal migrants across the Channel are stopped.
