Former Taoiseach appointee and current Tanaiste Leo Varadkar has said that the Government ‘will not hesitate to act’ if reopening of schools causes another spike in coronavirus cases.
Schools are due to reopen on a phased basis from March 1.
The current Level 5 lockdown restrictions have been extended until April.
