Diversity wars kick off in Dublin as Brazilian Embassy asked to tell their citizens not to use racist or offensive language




Deliveroo, UberEats and JustEat drivers (many of whom are foreign students of English language schools) and local Dublin youths have been engaged in recent street fights and battles, RTE reports. Footage of mobs of youths rampaging through the streets of Dublin were shown on RTE this week.

Deliveroo says its now planning to issue free personal alarms to its riders in Ireland. Gardai have also launched an operation in North Dublin City centre to combat attacks.

Fiachra Ó Luain, founder of the English Language Students of Ireland (ELSU) is calling for a one year visa extension on foreign students studying english in Ireland.
He is also asking for an increase in foreign students permitted working hours. Mr Ó Luain has asked the Brazilian Embassy asking them to inform their citizens living in Ireland to refrain from using racist or offensive language.

Fianna Fáil Senator Mary Fitzpatrick intends to bring the issue up in the Seanad next week.
