Covid-19: Thermal imaging equipment to be trialed in Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 2

Thermal imaging equipment is to be trialed in Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 2, as part of a larger initiative to ease lockdown restrictions in the UK.

All inbound passengers will be screened from Thursday, in an attempt to identify those with a high temperature. If the trial is successful, the technology might be rolled out to other airports.

Other measures include the use of UV for sanitation purposes and the quick disinfection of trays at security screening facilities.

The British Government recently introduced a mandatory 14-day quarantine for all people coming into the UK.
