Crack cocaine has become the most commonly abused drug in Ireland, a leading drug addiction service has revealed.
According statistics published by Coolmine, an organisation which helps people battle drug addiction, the most common cases to present at their centre are those who are abusing crack cocaine.
In a report issued this week the service said 33% of all its admissions are for crack cocaine addiction, whilst it’s second most common case is heroin at 31%.
Coolmine say one of the most common reasons for addicts to use crack cocaine is because it has become cheaper to buy in the past 12 to 18 months.
