Credit card insurance refund due for hundreds of thousands of customers

Up to 160,000 people may receive refunds of around €300 after their lending institutions mis-sold them credit card insurance.

Banks and card providers are currently engaged in the process of sending out letters and claim forms for customers who bought card protection policies.

These policies were sold by Bank of Ireland, Ulster Bank and MBNA (now Avantcard).

The Central Bank has stated that the that the refund process can go back to policies sold as long as nine years ago.
