Croke Park officials say they’re yet to receive contact over Katie Taylor bout

Croke Park has yet to receive any information from Matchroom Boxing regarding the possible hosting of a trilogy match between Katie Taylor and Chantel Cameron, reports RTE.

Following the Bray fighter’s famous victory at the 3Arena on Saturday night, he and promoter Eddie Hearn quickly called for his next fight to be held at GAA headquarters after attempts to secure a venue for his homecoming earlier this year failed.

Taylor said the trilogy match at Jones Road would be a fitting new twist for women’s boxing in May 2022 at New York’s Madison Square Garden.

“Let’s go Eddie Hearn. You promised me Croke Park after our fight,” Serrano said on social media after Taylor’s win on Saturday.

“There is a long and wonderful tradition of boxing in north Dublin as exemplified by Kellie Harrington. Croke Park acknowledges these wonderful achievements. There has been no contact from Matchroom. If they did contact, Croke Park will deal with them professionally and as with all requests, we will sit down and discuss all the elements involved. Croke Park hosts hundred of events every year and like all such events, a process has to be followed. As it stands no contact had been made by Taylor’s representatives,” McKenna told RTÉ Sport, reports RTE.
