Around two dozen protesters staged a demonstration outside Áras an Uachtaráin on Monday afternoon demanding the government reserve its decision to seal the records of the mother and baby home scandal for another 30 years.
President Michael D Higgins signed the controversial Bill sealing the records into law despite the widespread public opposition to the move following the government voting to take the action last week.
The bill will lead to the transferring of a database of 60,000 records, created during a five-year inquiry into the mother and baby homes, to Tusla.
The protest at the Áras was led by former TD and Solidarity–People Before Profit politician Ruth Coppinger.
