A 67-year-old cyclist has sadly lost his life this morning when his bike collided with a car.
The fatal accident happened on a minor road near the village of Knockakeery, Aughagower, at approximately 11:30am.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was later removed to Mayo General Hospital.
The driver of the car, a women aged in her 40s, was uninjured.
The road is closed to traffic and local diversions are in place.
