Dáil will meet today to debate Apple tax controversy

leinsterhouse

The Dáil will be recalled today, and politicians will discuss the decision to appeal last week’s EU ruling that Ireland must take €13 billion from tech giant Apple in back taxes owed.

The ruling by the EU commission sent shockwaves through Ireland and elsewhere, and the Government here have been doing their best to allow Apple to keep their money, rather than take it for the benefit of the citizens here.

If the appeal process does go ahead, it may take three to six years for any decision to be made.
