Ireland has a new ambassador to the United States of America, Dan Mulhall. Mr Mulhall presented his credentials U.S President Donald Trump at the White House this week making his posting official.
Mr Mulhall has previously served as Irish ambassador to the UK before taking on what is one of Ireland’s most important international relations positions.
It is hoped that Mr Mulhall will be able to maintain Ireland’s close, friendly relationship with the US which has persisted regardless of administration
However, some fear the goodwill that exists for Ireland may have been tainted after some Irish politicians have thought it within their prerogative to lecture the U.S President on U.S affairs.
