Danish Zoo criticised for performing a dissection on a lion in front of children

A zoo in Denmark has caused widespread controversy after staff at the zoo publicly dissected a lion in front of young children.

It is understood that the large animal was dissected by professionals as part of educational event. Reports say the lion believed to have been nine-months-old lion was one of three animals that Odense Zoo in Denmark put down last February after they failed to find a home for them. It is believed the dissection was then performed on the beast which was kept frozen for the last number of months, the rather barbaric dissection was carried out on front of 300 and 400 children.

The procedure has caused anger amongst those at the Humane Society International in Europe who accused the zoo of “making a macabre spectacle out of a much deeper tragedy”.
