The death toll from the White Island volcano in New Zealand has risen to eight, after two women who survived the initial explosion have succumbed to their injuries.
It is understood that both women had suffered extensive burns to their bodies.
The death toll is expected to increase further, as several people who were near the crater remain missing, presumed dead.
