Death toll likely to rise as three confirmed dead in County Donegal petrol station explosion as children remain missing

Many questions are being asked but so far very few answers are being given at this point as the entire country grieve at least three people dead following an enormous explosion in a petrol station on Friday afternoon in Donegal.

Locals say there’s quite a lot of confusion occurring over the past number of hours with two children still unaccounted for as the night drew in.

Emergency services remain at the site, we gardai confirming that at least three people are dead following an explosion at a petrol station in Donegal.

They say that there’s possibly more fatalities following the explosion as more people are rescued and recovered.

It’s understood that several people weretrapped inside the rubble of the shop and apartment building complex where the petrol station explosion occurred. Some of the people have made contact with rescue workers outside where it’s understood there are a number of people injured from the explosion.

Authorities have not given a full account of the situation at this time, or injuries to parties present in and around the building at the time of the explosion other than to warn everyone to completely avoid the area.

At time of publish, it’s not known whether everyone who was in or around the station is accounted for.

On Friday, emergency services attended the scene of an explosion at an Apple Green petrol station in the Creeslough area of Co Donegal. Several ambulances rushed to the scene, including a helicopter.

Locals say they heard an enormous explosion that has destroyed the shop and apartment complex of the building. A large number of ambulances, fire brigades and gardai rushed to the scene.

Gardaí are asking all road users wishing to travel to Creeslough to consider alternative routes today, Saturday, also.
