Debenhams Ireland goes into examinership, putting 1,400 jobs at risk

It has emerged today that the Irish operation of the popular department store Debenhams has gone into examinership, heralding an uncertain future for 1,400 staff across the country.

Debenhams, which operates 11 stores in Ireland, recorded losses of €6.7 million last year. A spokesperson said that costs are “disproportionately high”.
