December 8th: The Feast of the Immaculate Conception, traditionally the first “official” day for Christmas shopping

Today, December 8th marks the The Feast of the Immaculate Conception, and is traditionally the day where Ireland “officially” gets it’s festive season and in particular its Christmas shopping underway.

With just 17 shopping days left until Christmas, people are undertaking a very different shopping experience this year given the restrictions, but nonetheless – it really is beginning to feel a lot like Christmas!

People are advised to give themselves some extra time due to queues for shops and limited numbers inside at any one time, but the economy will be grateful for people being able to buy presents before the big day itself!
