Taoiseach: Ireland will be ready to roll-out Covid-19 vaccine if EU moves date forward

The Taoiseach Micheal Martin has said that Ireland will be ready to roll-out any potential Covid-19 vaccine should the EU approve it early.

Speaking in Cork, the Taoiseach said that Ireland was part of an European consortium that has already pre-purchased vaccines to distribute across the continent.

Martin said that Ireland is currently working with the European Medicines Agency in order to get the vaccine distribution logistics right and we will be ready should there be an early approval.

He added that the current date for an EMA approve is set for December 29th, but an approval could potentially happen before that date.
