The body of a man who went missing whilst kayaking in Co Kildare was recovered by divers who had been searching in the area for week following a tragic accident on February 28th 2021.
Declan Reid went missing whilst kayaking with his 9-yr-old son in Athy.
It is understood that they got into difficulties whilst on Ardreigh Lock on the River Barrow at approximately 3pm on that Sunday afternoon.
The young boy was rescued after a passer-by found them in distress.
An inquest has found that the 34-yr-old man of Moorefield Drive, Neilstown, Co Dublin died a hero while saving his son from drowning.
