Declan Rice has been voted as the FAI’s Young Player of the year

The FAI have revealed that Declan Rice has been voted young player of the year at the FAI International awards.

Rice who has since switched his allegiance to England, was named young player of the year by the SSE Airtricity Soccer Writers’ Association of Ireland.

It is understood that RĂce was given the award when he was still technically an Irish international.

The FAI say that although Rice has since transferred his allegiance to England, they will not change the result as the association “maintains the integrity of the voting process”.

However the association added that Rice will not be in Dublin this weekend to collect his award at a special awards ceremony.
