Denmark has become the first European country to stop using the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine altogether.
In an announcement made today the Danish Government said it has decided to stop using the vaccine despite continuing its vaccination programme.
Speaking to reporters Danish Health Authority director Soren Brostrom, said that most people are risk from contracting severe illness has already been vaccinated and therefore the use of the vaccine has been suspended.
Brostrom also said that the country will continue its vaccine programme, but the epidemic is largely unde control.
He added that although the country has decided to stop using the vaccine, the Danish Government fully respects the decisions of fellow EU nations who have decided to continue using the vaccine.
