The Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr Ronan Glynn has advised people to work from where ever possible.
Speaking about the rise in cases Dr Glynn urged people to keep up basic hygiene measures and to avoid mixing if they are experiencing symptoms.
Glynn went on to say that the median age of cases increasing has increased from the mid 20s to 36 years of age.
He added that on average ther are 5 ICU admissions each day.
