Deputy CMO urges people to avoid crowds and continue public health measures as Delta variant accounts for 80% of cases




The Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr Ronan Glynn has called on the public to continue to follow public health guidelines amid the spread of the Delta variant.

Speaking following the announcment of 589 cases on Tuesday, Glynn called on people to avoid crowds and large gatherings.

Glynn urged the public to continue practicing social distancing, hand washing and to continue using face masks.

He also urged those who have tested positive for the virus to work with contact tracers in order to keep people known to them protected.
