The Government has once again shown its true colors when dealing with regular citizens of the country, those living outside the wealth circle.
Minister for Agriculture, Simon Coveney, has today ruled out the possibility of relocating families who have lost everything due to flooding. Only hours prior to making such despicable comments, the minister was left red-faced by angry residents of Clonlara and Springfield in Co. Clare whose lives have been left in tatters due to the savage flooding over Christmas.
Referring to the possibility of residents being relocated, he categorically announced that “I don’t think that we are looking at that option at the moment,” and that the people’s plight is “not a priority” for the Government.
To add insult to injury, and trying once more to pass the responsibility off to others, he added “The priority actually needs to be managing floods through the winter, as opposed to generating electricity, and I think that is the priority of the ESB, to be fair.”
