Detectives searching for Madeleine McCann make request for further funding

Detectives leading the search for Madeleine McCann have made a request for further funding, according to reports in the UK.

According to Metro.co.uk, lead detectives have submitted an application to the British Home Office after £150,000 in funding which was granted last September has run out.

The latest request which is said to be under review, comes as the investigation into Madeleine’s disappearence enters its 12th year.

Madeleine went missing in May 2007, in the Portuguese holiday resort of Praia Da Luz whilst on holiday with her parents Kate and Gerry McCann.

It is believed that the British Home Office has spent £11.75m on the search for Madeleine so far and of granted the further funding will continue the investigation until at least the end of 2020.
