Motorists could soon face the possibility of having their mobile phones being disabled whilst traveling in a moving car.
The new plan action which is being considered in the UK could see a revolutionary new technology being introduced that would see a mobile phone’s signal being blocked whilst the vehicle is moving.
The new software which is aimed at purposely disabling communication devices would also prevent users from being able to retrieve texts and emails.
According to the UK transport department a number of network providers and handset manufactures have agreed to discuss the new technology further.
Although no such action has been considered here in Ireland it is thought if the new technology is successfully implemented in the UK other countries would consider using the same system.
