Diageo to offer 26 weeks paternity leave to their Irish employees




Drinks manufacturer behind brands such as Guinness, Diageo, have confirmed that it will offer 26 weeks paid paternity leave to all male employees.

In a move that the company say will make an inclusive and diverse workforce, employees at the company will be offering paid leave to all fathers who work at the company.

The company who will introduce the new system beginning from July 1st, say the leave must be taken within the first twelve months of the child’s life.

Meanwhile the same benefits will be given to female employees in other countries outside of Ireland, although fathers are expected to receive less leave in other regions with the minimum being set at four weeks.

Diageo say the new system will will apply to everyone regardless of gender, sexual orientation.

It will also apply to those who become parents via adoption or surrogacy.
