Did you watch it? Almost one million tuned in for Kielty’s Late Late debut




A peak audience of 934,000 watched the first Late Late Show of the season last Friday night, reports RTE.

An average of 830,000 viewers of RTÉ One and RTÉ One +1 saw Patrick Kielce make his debut as the new presenter of the world’s longest-running live chat show.

The show also had 158,000 plays on RTÉ Player, making it the strongest start to a Late Late Show season on the platform to date, while videos of the show on social media have amassed 7.6 million views to date.

Kielta’s guests included Tommy Tiernan, former president Mary McAleese, footballer James McClean and The 2 Johnny, as well as live music from Chasing Abbey, reports RTE.

The program kicked off a phenomenal viewing weekend on RTÉ with the Rugby World Cup match between Ireland and Tonga, which attracted an average of 965,000 viewers, peaking in the 20th minute with 1.1 million viewers. The game also received 162,000 plays on RTÉ Player.

Later that evening, the third episode of Hidden Assets averaged 218,000 viewers, reports RTE.
